Our Pro Celeb Charity Football Match was held at Woodbridge Town Football Club on Saturday 30 July. Team Jude included ex pros Titus Bramble, Michael Duberry, Ruel Fox & Tesfae Bramble. Our Patron DJ Spoony also joined Team Jude and Peter Brady captained the team. Members of the public paid to play alongside them and take on Celeb FC.
Celeb FC are a London based non profit organisation who very kindly play at charity events & help promote, all on a voluntary basis, and were set up and run by lovely #teammum Karin. They had a star studded squad including DJ Pied Piper, Marlon Wallen (Big Brother), Andy Taylor (X Factor) & some ex pros such as Chris Jennings, Shameek Farrell & their Goalie Mario Marranzini, to name but a few.
Although a friendly charity match all the players from both teams wanted to win. The game started very strongly for Team Jude, however as the game went on Celeb FC grew stronger and more determined to win and by half time were winning 2 – 0. The end result was 4 – 0, meaning our opponents were clear winners of the Jude Brady Charity Shield. We would like to thank them all for all taking part in this event! They even brought along Linda Lambert from Storage Hunters to cheer them on & support both this event at the afterparty.
As well as the football match there was a disco dome bouncy castle, ice cream van and BBQ provided by the club. Wayne Bavin of Town 102 provided full match commentary. We would like to say a special thank to you Wayne, Tony Horton and the whole team at Town 102 who were instrumental in helping to promote our football match via their radio station and social media as well as being there on the day!
We would also like to thank Woodbridge Town FC for being fabulous hosts of our match and our Referee Officials, Louis Dawson, Chris Dale & Gareth Moir who all provided their services free of charge. Sportsmeadeast provided the physio team on the day and BeActive & Healthy provided the players with refreshments during the game. Paul Leech took some amazing photos of the day which are all now on our website and again we would like to thank him for giving us these images to remember the day. Jo Bowen of Chatterfish also deserves a special mention, who not only does an amazing job of tweeting for us & promoting our events, but also came along with her daughter & friend to help on the day! Also the fabulous Barry & Ann Parker who were amazing help and support. Help at big events such as these are so much appreciated & needed – we can’t thank you enough!
A big thank you also goes to Sports Shield and Gotelee Solicitors who sponsored this match and Barclays who all helped to boost fundraising. This event raised £3,000.
BEATBOX AFTER PARTY
The day didn’t end there as many of the players who took part in the game came along to our after party that was held at Aqua Eight that evening. The fabulous boys from TesJay Promotions put on a spectacular Beatboxx special charity event. Special guests included MC Rankin, MC Bushkin & DJ Slamma (Heartless Crew). Tickets were £10 on the door and from 11.00 pm – 1.00 am when the doors closed there was a queue of people waiting to get in. Simon Milton and Jason Dozzell who couldn’t make it to the match due to other commitments came along to celebrate with the players and everyone partied until the event finished at 2.30 am. We would like to say a special thank you to Tes Bramble, Jay Dee, Matty Cunningham, Vincent Cheung and Valter Gremi for all their hard work that went into making this night possible & also to Kenny Wong for taking photos for us. This night raised a further £2,000 – meaning the overall total for the day was a whopping £5,000!
Thank you ALL so much for helping us to achieve this – we hope you all enjoyed both events and look forward to seeing you at the next one!
