We received a request from a local family asking us for funds to help them purchase a new P-Pod which is a “comfy” chair for Elliot as he had outgrown his old chair.
Elliot is one of a twin who is now 4 years old. They were born at 25 weeks gestation at 1lb 13 and 2lb. At 8 months of age Elliot was diagnosed with Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy. Elliot’s condition means that his muscle tone fluctuates from very loose to very tight. It can be extremely uncomfortable and painful at times. He is unable to sit or stand unaided and cannot walk. Cognitively, he is doing well and his speech is as it should be for his age. However his family have been told that it is unlikely that he will ever be able to sit, stand or walk unaided.
The P-Pod which he loves, enables Elliot to sit and relax in front of the television with the family and not have to deal with being strapped into his upright chair all of the time. As he always has to be strapped into equipment such as his chair, standing frame and wheelchair for his own safety this “comfy chair” is very important to him to have somewhere soft and relaxing to sit.
We are delighted to announce that we have purchased this for Elliot at the cost of £793.18 and are very pleased to hear that he is loving his new chair!
In addition to purchasing this for him we will be setting up a fundraising page for Elliot to help the family raise funds for other specialist equipment they need to purchase. Watch this space for more details!
