Sadly UK statistics still show 15 babies die every day in the UK either before, during or shortly after birth.

After lots of careful planning and meetings with Ipswich Hospital we are delighted to have launched an exciting pilot project with the aim of reducing stillbirth.

All expectant mothers receiving care at Ipswich Hospital are being given vital information to help them protect their unborn babies on a handy wallet to carry throughout pregnancy.

The specially-designed and eye-catching wallets include advice about how often the baby should move, facts about their growth and tips on what people should do if they have concerns, as well as information about when people should seek urgent help.

They also offer general advice about staying well during pregnancy, signs of labour and breastfeeding, as well as explaining what midwives will check for during appointments.

Woman will use the wallets to store their notes, which include their medical history, information about scans, birth and labour plans, so that all of their details are easily accessible when they come for appointments or in an emergency.

Ali Brett, bereavement midwife at Ipswich Hospital, said: “We are really pleased that we have been able to work with the Jude Brady Foundation to give these wallets to every mum-to-be who receives their care at Ipswich Hospital. They bring a range of really important health information into one place and we hope they will be a useful resource for people.

“It is vital for women to be in tune with their bodies so that they know what level of movement is normal for their baby and can recognise if their pattern has changed. There could be lots of reasons why this happens, but it is important to contact us straight away if you are worried.”

We have donated 4,000 wallets to the hospital, which will last around one year. We would like all expectant mothers to receive one of these wallets not just this year but every year.  In order to do so, we need to raise the funds to keep this project going.  We have therefore set up a unique text code so we can identify every donation made by this campaign and every penny received via this text code will go towards the cost of producing these wallets in future years.  YOUR donation therefore is VITAL to making this campaign successful.

We are delighted to be working with Ipswich Hospital on this project. Reducing stillbirth is our ultimate goal, so this completely meets our criteria and we are looking forward next year to seeing the results.

Ipswich Hospital is the first hospital we have worked with and we are running this project with them as a pilot scheme to achieve our joint goal of reducing stillbirth within Ipswich. If successful, we hope to roll out this project with other local hospitals and eventually nationally.

Please help us to make this campaign a success and donate towards the cost of the wallets by texting JUDE17 plus your amount* to 70070.
